Stanley A. Schlitter is an accomplished litigator with wide experience representing clients in all aspects of intellectual property enforcement, with an emphasis on patent infringement suits in the federal courts and at the International Trade Commission. In recent years, he has increasingly represented clients in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. In addition, Stan has successfully litigated disputes involving trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation, and breach of contract.

Stan regularly provides guidance to clients in licensing intellectual property and in structuring and negotiating IP transfers in connection with corporate acquisitions. He also advises clients on responding to allegations of infringement, evaluating potential infringement, and designing around patents.

Prior to his legal career, Stan worked as an electrical engineer at a high-profile aerospace company. He leverages his technical background and industry knowledge when handling matters involving electronic circuitry and components, semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes, liquid crystal and other displays, memory storage devices, and internet and software innovations, among other technologies.

Represented global manufacturer of electronic components regarding assertion by a patent holder that client infringed patents relating to Bluetooth technology. Resolved without client paying any consideration.

Represented global manufacturer of electronic components in asserting client’s patents relating to frequency filter technology against a competitor based in South Korea. Settlement reached.

Represented manufacturer of components used in mobile phones in negotiating a license to use patented manufacturing technology.

Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd. v. Chimei Innolux Corporation et al. (C.D. Cal. 2012–13). Represented plaintiff in a patent infringement action involving liquid crystal displays. Settlement reached.

The TicketRESERVE, Inc. d/b/a FirstDIBZ v. yoonew, Inc. (N.D. Ill. 2008–09). Represented defendant in patent infringement action involving an internet-based business method patent. Settlement reached.

In the Matter of Certain Semiconductor Integrated Circuits and Products Containing Same, USITC, Inv. No. 337-TA-665 (June 2009). Represented respondent Seagate in patent infringement case involving computer memory chips.

Gemtron Corporation v. Saint-Gobain Corporation (W.D. Mich. 2004–08). Represented plaintiff in patent infringement action. Won jury verdict of infringement and award of damages.
