Donald R. “Bob” Bunton is a registered patent attorney whose intellectual property law practice currently encompasses patent litigation, patent preparation and prosecution, IP transactions, product clearance and legal opinions, IP due diligence and competitive assessments, international IP protection, and patent post-issuance proceedings. With a background in aerospace engineering and programming, Bob works with technical areas including electronics, computer software and hardware, and mechanical engineering.

Before joining Fitch Even, Bob served as a summer associate at an IP law firm in Indiana, where he prepared office action responses, provisionals, and patent applications. In addition, Bob assisted with patent defense work.

While attending the University of Illinois College of Law, Bob worked as an analyst at the university’s Office of Technology Management, where he researched patentability of invention disclosures, prepared provisional applications, assisted with licensing agreements and research grant contracts, and made recommendations on IP protection. Prior to law school, Bob did electrical engineering work as a systems engineer for a global manufacturer of machine tools.

Lone Star Silicon Innovations LLC v. Toshiba Corporation et al. (E.D. Tex. 2016–18). Member of the team currently representing the plaintiff in enforcement actions for multiple semiconductor process patents that relate to memory and other large-scale integrated semiconductor devices.

Prepares and prosecutes foreign and domestic patent applications directed to electronics and software applications for both large and small companies.

Prepares and prosecutes foreign and domestic design patent applications directed to product displays and product packaging.

Prepares and prosecutes foreign and domestic patent applications directed to food products, processing, and packaging technologies for a global food company.

Performs freedom-to-operate and patentability analysis for both small and large companies.

Conducts foreign patent prosecution with various worldwide patent professionals for U.S.-based clientele.
