Fitch Even and ISBA Recognize Attorney James J. Schumann for 50 Years of Service

December 21, 2012

Congratulations to Fitch Even counsel James J. Schumann, who was recently honored as a Distinguished Counsellor by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) in recognition of his 50 years of service to the legal profession. Jim and his fellow Distinguished Counsellors who were also admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1962 were honored at a special luncheon at the Sheraton Chicago on December 12.

Even more notable is the fact that Jim has spent his entire legal career with Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery, first joining the firm as a law clerk in February of 1961 while attending law school at Loyola University, and then continuing as an associate upon passing the bar in 1962. Jim worked at our Chicago office until 1988, when he relocated to San Diego to help open Fitch Even’s first Southern California office to better serve West Coast-based clients such as General Atomics and the Salk Institute, among others.

Fitch Even commemorated Jim’s 50-plus years of service to the firm during the annual partners' meeting earlier this month. We are grateful that Jim chose to share his impressive knowledge, well-honed legal skills, and affable demeanor with us over these many years, and we sincerely appreciate his extraordinary commitment and loyalty to the firm and to our clients.
