Fitch Even Attorneys Giles Turner and James Zak Serve as Mentors to Collegiate Inventors Competition Finalists at USPTO

November 23, 2015

Fitch Even attorneys Giles N. Turner and James A. Zak recently participated in the Promoting Intellectual Property Literacy™: IP Pro Bono Mentorship Program, which provides Collegiate Inventors Competition finalists with access to mentors from select IP law firms. Giles and James met with members of two teams of finalists at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia, answering questions and advising them on the legal aspects of protecting their innovations.

The Collegiate Inventors Competition, a program created by Invent Now’s National Inventors Hall of Fame, recognizes and rewards undergraduate and graduate students nationwide who are committed to research, discovery, invention, and innovation as they address the problems of today's world. The objective of the IP Pro Bono Mentorship Program is to equip finalists with a greater understanding of how to successfully protect their intellectual capital through IP literacy and bring their innovations to the market.

Since its inception in 1990, the Collegiate Inventors Competition has awarded more than $1 million to winning students for their innovative work and scientific achievement. This year’s panel of judges included National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees, USPTO experts, and AbbVie scientists.
